The Beat Kidz
Background:
Named for their love of music and unwillingness to grow up, The Beat Kidz combine the live drums of punk rock with the heaviness of bass music to create a whole new musical experience.
Duncan Johnson, originally from Salisbury Wiltshire in the UK, flew across the pond at the young age of 16 to become a tour manager and live the American punk rock scene. Johnson became a staple in the Vans Warped Tour circuit as a tour manager for several popular touring artists. However Johnson, who began drumming at 15, always knew his true passion and dream was playing the drums, not working backstage.
While on Warped Tour Johnson met Nico Hernandez and found that they shared a common interest in both punk and electronic music. Hernandez, a So Cal Native, was fascinated with the Los Angeles EDM scene and was taking part any way he could. You could find him at every EDM event, promoting on the streets of Hollywood and producing & DJing electronic dance music throughout Southern California. The two instantly decided they would combine their interests and talents to create a whole new approach to EDM music. Taking note from their idols Travis Barker and Skrillex the two sought out to create a new live drumming experience with Bass music style. Their creation was The Beat Kidz a group that is dedicated to the idea that music should always be about bringing people together.
"We want the crowd to feel like they too are part of the group, it is so important to us that the crowd is having as much fun as we are!" - The Beat Kidz
Armed with their bootleg remixes, DJ skills and live drums The Beat Kidz are set to take Bass music culture into new frontiers.
